Esther was born in 1788 in Bolton and her baptism took place on April 16th, 1788 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Esther's father was Isaac Bolton and her mother was Alice Yates.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Bolton Esq and Esther Nield. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Thomas, Isaac, Mary and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
