1848, Margaret Baxter, spinster, (no father named) married John Mather, son of James. All from Atherton.
In 1837, Margaret had a saughter Selina Baxter before she married John. Then they had Allen in 1850.
In 1851, Margaret and John (both 24) had Selene and Allen Mather (3 & 1). They were living at Common Street, Atherton with Margaret's (step) father Thomas Melling (39, so too young to be her father) and assumed mother Betty Melling (46).

Margaret and John were married in a religious ceremony on June 25th, 1848 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).2 They had a son and a daughter, named Allen and Selina. There are possibly more children.
