Martha was born in December 1872 in Birkenhead.1  Martha's father was John Huxley and her mother was Martha Batho.  Her maternal grandparents were George Batho and Elizabeth Kirkham.  She was an only child.  She was adopted by James Bevan & Mary Jane Batho at two years old in 1874.
