Lucy's father was Henry Batho and her mother was Mary Fogg. Her paternal grandparents were George Batho and Martha Cartwright. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Robert, Henry, Ann, Emma, Susannah, Jane and Mary. She was the youngest of the eight children.
