Eliza was born in April 1887 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on April 27th, 1887 at St. Matthew (Halliwell).1 2  Eliza's father was Richard Barlow and her mother was Alice Seddon.  Her paternal grandparents were James Barlow and Ann Roper (Mather). She had a brother and four sisters, named James, Sarah, Lily, Ada and Hannah.  She was the oldest of the six children.
