Sarah was born in December 1864 in Bradshaw.1  Sarah's father was John Allen and her mother was Alice Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Edward Mather and Ann Brambley. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Edward, William, Richard, John, Charles, Elizabeth, Alice and Alice. She had an adopted sister named Mary.
