Laurence was born on February 15th, 1737.  Laurence's father was Lawrence Dey and his mother was Anne Sarah Dey.  His paternal grandparents were James (Hanson) Hans Duyts and Margaret Dey; his maternal grandparents were John Laurens Dey and Ann Brown. He had a brother and six sisters, named John, Mary, Jane, Catherine, Anne, Josiah and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 87 on September 8th, 1824.

‌Laurence and Mary were married in a religious ceremony.  They had a daughter named Catherine.
