Capt. John Stevens 
John was born on October 19th, 1737 in Plainfield, Windham County, Connecticut.1 John's father was Andrew Stevens Sr and his mother was Ester Safford. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Stevens Sr and Mary Hall. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Safford, Andrew, Stephen, Nathaniel, Oliver, Mary, Esther, Dorothy, Amy, Olive and Desire. He was the oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 64 on November 20th, 1801 in Washington, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.1 General Notes
