Joseph was born on December 31st, 1609 in Bradford, West Riding, England and his christening took place there on December 31st, 1609.1  Joseph's father was Edward Jewett (Juite) and his mother was Mary Taylor.  His paternal grandparents were William Jewett and Cecely Bellyn; his maternal grandparents were William Taylor and Sarah Rogers. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, Maximillian, Josiah, Grace and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 50 on February 26th, 1660 in Boston, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.  He was buried on February 26th, 1660 in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts.2 1
