Her paternal grandparents were John Hallowell (Halliwell) and Elizabeth Marriott; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Holland and Mary. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, Samuel, Benjamin, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane. She had a half-brother named John.-
