Jan  was born on February 15th, 1590 in Mechelen.1   Jan 's father was Cornelis  BROERS  and his mother was Margriet  Mortelers (Notelters).  His paternal grandparents were Geeraert   (De Oude) BROERS  and Madelena (Margreta) Couthans . He had a sister named Maria .  He was the younger of the two children.
