Evert Jan was born on April 12th, 1795 in Gendringen, Netherlands and his baptism took place on April 12th, 1795. Evert Jan's father was Derck / Derk Willem Wenink (Weenink) and his mother was Jenneken Berkelaar (Berkelers / Berkerders).  His paternal grandparents were Garit Weeninck (Gerrit Wenink) and Maria Velthorst / Veldhorst; his maternal grandparents were Garrit / Gerrit Berkelder and Elisabeth / Elisabet Nienhuis (Nijenhuis‏‎ / Nijenhuijs). He had two brothers and a sister, named Gerrit Jan, Jannes and Maria.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Gerrit, Jan, Elisabeth, Derk, Geertuid and Hendrika.  He died at the age of 85 on January 18th, 1881 in Silvolde (Gld), Netherlands.
