Jan was born on October 18th, 1789 in Gendringen. Jan's father was Evert Jan / Gerrit Jan Lammers (Lamers) and his mother was Jenneken Berkelaar (Berkelers / Berkerders).  His paternal grandparents were Henrik Lamers and Vrouw / Moeder; his maternal grandparents were Garrit / Gerrit Berkelder and Elisabeth / Elisabet Nienhuis (Nijenhuis‏‎ / Nijenhuijs). He had a brother and four sisters, named Gerrit, Elisabeth, Derk, Geertuid and Hendrika.  He was the second youngest of the six children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Evert Jan, Gerrit Jan, Jannes and Maria.  He died at the age of 78 on January 13th, 1868 in Gendringen.
