Dirick was born on January 20th, 1626 in Leiden.1  Dirick's father was Claes Dircxz van der Meer (Meere) and his mother was Marie Danielsdr Catterwijck.  His paternal grandparents were Janse van der Meer and Vrouw / Moeder. He had two brothers named Daniel and Dirck.  He was the oldest of the three children.
