Daniel was born on June 16th, 1627 in Leiden.1  Daniel's father was Claes Dircxz van der Meer (Meere) and his mother was Marie Danielsdr Catterwijck.  His paternal grandparents were Janse van der Meer and Vrouw / Moeder. He had two brothers named Dirick and Dirck.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
