Jacob was born on July 1st, 1771.  Jacob's father was Klaas / Claas Janse / Jansz / Jansze Stam and his mother was Antje Pieters. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Pieter, Jan, Dirk, Dirk, Trijntje, Neeltje and Grietje.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.
