Grietje was born on October 12th, 1772.  Grietje's father was Klaas / Claas Janse / Jansz / Jansze Stam and her mother was Antje Pieters. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Pieter, Jan, Dirk, Jacob, Dirk, Trijntje and Neeltje.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
