Dirk was born on March 27th, 1763.  Dirk's father was Pieter Jans Spaans / Spaens and his mother was Antje Dirksz (Lamberts) Nooreloos.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Pietersz Spaans / Spaens and Trijn / Trijntje Cornelis / Crelis / Krelisdr. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jan, Cornelis, IJtje, Dirk, Aagje, Antje and Jannetje.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Claas, Trijntje, Lijsbeth / Lijsabeth, Grietje, Maartje and Trijntje.  He died before 1768.
