Cornelis was born on August 22nd, 1696 in Delfshaven.1  Cornelis' father was Laurens / Laurentz / Lauwerd Chijle and his mother was Cornelia Philps Schoonemans.  His paternal grandparents were Denijs / Dennis Adamsz Silo (Gilo, Chijlo, Sijloo) and Annetje Schijn; his maternal grandfather was Philp Schoonemans. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named Pieter, Philps, Philps, Cornelis, Cornelis, Adam, Laurenz, Stefanis, Anna, Anna and Anna.  He was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.
