Jan was born about 1863.  Jan's father was Willem Haan and his mother was Aafje Beets.  His maternal grandparents were Jan Beets and Aaltje Worp. He had a brother and four sisters, named Jan, Maartje, Maartje, Aaltje and Krijntje.  He was the second youngest of the six children.  He died on June 21st, 1940 in Wormer.
