Jan was born on April 5th, 1861.  Jan's father was Willem Haan and his mother was Aafje Beets.  His maternal grandparents were Jan Beets and Aaltje Worp. He had a brother and four sisters, named Jan, Maartje, Maartje, Aaltje and Krijntje.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at just 6 days old on April 11th, 1861.
