Geertje was born on October 3rd, 1803 in Heerhugowaard ( Veenhuizen).1  Geertje's father was Teunis Pietersz de Groot and her mother was Trijntje Jans Pijper. She had a brother and six sisters, named Cornelis, Maartje, Kniertje, Neeltje, Geertje, Trijntje and Trijntje.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died before 1811.
