Joris was born on February 13th, 1729.  Joris' father was Pieter Fokker / Focker and his mother was Lijsbeth Joris Kaij / Kaaij.  His maternal grandparents were Joris Pieters Kaij / Kay and Jantje / Jannetje Volkerts. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jacob, Cornelis, Abram, Dirk, Antje and Jannetje.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
