Dirk was born on August 1st, 1783.  Dirk's father was Jan Dinkla and his mother was Aaltje Reusenaar.  His paternal grandparents were Johann (Jan) Heinrich Dinklage and Anna Rebekka Johansson Hendriksen; his maternal grandparents were Jan Ruischenaar and Vrouw / Moeder. He had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Hendrik, Jan, Frederik, Willem, Gerrit, Gerrit, Willem, Willem, Antje, Aaltje, Elsje, Elsje, Elisabeth, Elisabeth and Leentje / Lena / Helena.  He was the sixth oldest of the sixteen children.
