Mary was born in 1736 in East Leake, Nottinghamshire, , England.  Mary's father was George Dexter and her mother was Ann Marshall.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Dexter and Anne Bexon. She had two brothers and a sister, named George, Thomas and Anne.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 25 on September 15th, 1761 in East Leake, Nottinghamshire, , England.
