George was born in 1739 in East Leake, Nottinghamshire, , England.  George's father was George Dexter and his mother was Ann Marshall.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Dexter and Anne Bexon. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Anne and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 53 in 1792 in Canterbury, Kent, , England.
