Charles' father was Alfred Malcolm POLAND and his mother was Alice Rose FARR.  His paternal grandparents were Charles POLAND and Lily LEE. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Stanley, Sidney, Donald, Darcy, Grace, Ida and Kathleen.  He was the oldest of the eight known children.  He died at the age of 74 in 1975 in NSW.
