His paternal grandparents were William Marshall OCKENDEN and Mary Elizabeth BARRETT; his maternal grandparents were Frederick Henry RIX and Jane Elizabeth MUSSARED. He had a brother and a sister, named Eric and Majorie. He was the second oldest of the three children.-
