Doris was born on August 29th, 1911 in Kadina, SA.1   Doris' father was Ernest David EDYVEAN and her mother was Elsie SHARMAN.  Her paternal grandparents were David EDYVEAN and Ann TRETHEWEY; her maternal grandparents were Henry SHARMAN and Elizabeth MACKMAN. She had a brother and three sisters, named Cyril, Gladys, Edna and Rita.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
