William was born in 1853. William's father was John Hudson BARTON and his mother was Mary Louisa WEBBER.  His maternal grandparents were William Wood WEBBER and Henrietta Hanna FIRN. He had three brothers and nine sisters, named John, James, Charles, Isabella, Mary, Elizabeth, Amelia, Ellen, Emily, Caroline, Martha and Hannah.  He was the second oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 28 on December 24th, 1881 in Cohuna, VIC.1
