Mary Dorothy was born on February 7th, 1921 in Ottawa, Ontario.1 Mary Dorothy's father was William John ALLEN and her mother was Mary Teresa HOURIGAN. Her paternal grandparents are Joseph ALLEN and Mary WATT; her maternal grandparents were Francis HOURIGAN and Mary KENNY. She had a brother and two sisters, named Charles, Marion and Living. She died at the age of 91 on June 28th, 2012 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.2 General Notes

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy Highley (nee Allen) in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of John (Jack) Highley for over 61 years. Youngest child of the late Teresa (Hourigan) and William Allen. Cherished mother of Catherine, Anne (Richard Konchak), Patricia (Tom Dunbar), Michael (Lise Beauregard) and Rosemary (Ian Symes). Dearly loved by her grandchildren Heather (Dan Olszewski) and Graham Konchak, Jennifer (Jon Wylie) and Matthew Dunbar, Ryan (Lindsay McConnell), Adam (Ashlee Mannion) and Jordan Highley, and Thomas and Scott Farrell. Great- Grandmother to Aria & Bethany Olszewski, Hannah Wylie and Jaxon Highley. Also survived by her sister-in-law Margaret (Peggie) Highley of Cornwall. Predeceased by her son-in-law Alan Farrell, and her siblings Marion Hughes, Vera Martin and Charles Allen. She will be remembered fondly by her family and her many friends for her gentle nature, love of life and nurturing ways. We will miss her forever. Dorothy spent many years volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She received a medal for her 1000 hours of volunteer work and she volunteered at many rummage sales at St. Augustine's Church and was a parishioner at St. Patrick's Basilica for many years. Many thanks to Dr. J. Forester, Dr. A. Mai, nurse Jenny, CCAC, Bayshore Home Health and all of her great team of health care providers for their care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Patrick's Home would be appreciated. Family & friends will be received at the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street West, on Tuesday, July 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00. A Mass of a Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 4th at St. Patrick's Basilica at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Pinecrest Cemetery. A Celebration of Dorothy's life will continue at a reception at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road.
