Henry was born on May 24th, 1713 in Eastham, Cheshire, England and his baptism took place there on May 24th, 1713. Henry's father was Sir William Stanley (3rd Baron Hooton & Stourton) and his mother was Catherine Eyre.  His paternal grandparents were Sir Rowland Stanley (2nd Baron Errington) and Anne Paston; his maternal grandparents were Rowland Eyre (of Hassop) and Elizabeth Plunkett. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Rowland, William, John, Thomas Charles, Charles, James, Elizabeth, Anne and Dorothy.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
