Isabella G's father was David R Sinclair and her mother was Mary S Gilchrist. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Sinclair and Marion Robertson. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, William G, David, Archibald G, Minnie, Margaret, Mary G and Catherine G. She was the third oldest of the nine children.
