William Lansdown was born in 1789 in Midsomer Norton, Somerset, England.  William Lansdown's father was William Parsons and his mother was Mary Lansdown.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Parsons and Sarah Unknown; his maternal grandparents were John Lansdown and Mary Hobson. He had a brother and a sister, named John and Ann.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William Lansdown, John and Ann.
