Sarah was born in April 1746 in Midsomer Norton, Somerset, England.  Sarah's father was Thomas Parsons and her mother was Sarah Unknown.  Her paternal grandparents were John Parsons and Ann Unknown. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William and Anne Parsons.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
