Christian was born after January 20th, 1729 in Auchterderran, Fife, Scotland and her baptism took place on October 20th, 1728.  Christian's father was John Mackie and her mother was Margaret Reid. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Isobel, Jannet and Agnes.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
