Ann was born in 1764 in Heathersett, Norfolk, England. Ann's father was Henry Girdlestone and her mother was Margaret Cooper. Her paternal grandparents were John Girdlestone and Sarah Ford. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry John, Thomas, Thomas, Margaret and Catherine. She was the youngest of the six children.-
