Louise was born about 1900 in Taunton, Somerset, England.  Louise's father was John Farthing and her mother was Sarah Ann Grant. She had six brothers and five sisters, named William, John, Charles, Walter, Arther Willie, Fred, Mary (Polly), Sarah, Harriet, Elizabeth and Beatrice May.  She was the youngest of the twelve children.
