Robert was born on July 28th, 1782 in Beath, Fife , Scotland. Robert's father was David Beath and his mother was Jean Durie.  His paternal grandparents were William Beath (younger) and Bethea Balvaird; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Durie and Jean Jamison.  William Beath (of Pitgorne) and Marion Ireland were his grandparents through his father's adoption. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Andrew, Thomas, David, Alexander, John, Anne and Janet.  He died at the age of 54 on February 9th, 1837 in Foulford, Beath, Fife, Scotland.  He was buried on February 13th, 1837 in Foulford, Beath, Fife, Scotland.
