Jacob, known as Jake, was born on March 24th, 1906 in Streeter, Stutsman County, North Dakota, USA.1   Jake's father was Gottlieb Rivinius Jr and his mother was Katherine “Katie” Stradinger (Rivinius).  His paternal grandparents were Gottlieb Rivinius Sr. and Katherine Herman (Rivinius); his maternal grandparents are Carl Stradinger and Katrena Nehr. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Theodore, Gottlieb, Albert, Arthur, Katie, Maggie, Lydia and Ida.  He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 78 on July 6th, 1984 in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota, USA.1

Jake and Ella were married in a religious & civil ceremony on October 19th, 1929.1   They had a son and two daughters, named Arnold, Nyla and Rivinius.
