George was born in 1830 in Evenlode, Worcestershire and his baptism took place on November 7th, 1830 in St.Edward, Evenlode, Worcestershire.1 2  George's father was Richard LONG and his mother was Elizabeth SMITH.  His paternal grandparents were John Henry LONG and Ann TAYLOR; his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and Hannah <UNKNOWN>. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Elizabeth, Mary and Joyce.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 45 in 1875 in Aston, Birmingham.  He was buried on April 22nd, 1875 in Parish Church of St.Peter & St.Paul, Aston, Birmingham.3 3
