Samuel was born in 1793 in Mancetter, Warwickshire and his baptism took place there on March 30th, 1793.¹   Samuel's father was John HALL and his mother was Catherina WILLSON.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph HALL and Jane PROCTOR; his maternal grandparents were Thomas WILLSON and Elizabeth <UNKNOWN>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Joseph, John, Thomas, Joseph, Thomas, William, Samuel and Hannah.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
