Joseph was born in 1784 in Mancetter, Warwickshire and his baptism took place there on January 4th, 1784.¹   Joseph's father was John HALL and his mother was Catherina WILLSON.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph HALL and Jane PROCTOR; his maternal grandparents were Thomas WILLSON and Elizabeth <UNKNOWN>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Joseph, John, Thomas, Thomas, William, Samuel, Samuel and Hannah.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
