Arthur was born in 1881 in Claverdon, Warwick.  Arthur's father was Clement CHINNER and his mother was Mary Ann DALE.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas CHINNER and Elizabeth WATTS; his maternal grandparents were William DALE and Sarah MOLD. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, John, Frederick, Emily, Amy and Alice.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
