Renete's father is Rev Perry Smith and her mother is Loretta Marshall. Her paternal grandfather was Willy Pete Smith and her paternal grandmother is Blanche Berry. She has three brothers named Frankie, Paul and Shane. She has three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Perry, Darrell, Charles, Mary and Royalene.
