Mary's father was Charles Préjean and her mother was Francoise Boudrot. Her paternal grandparents were Jean Préjean (dit Le Breton) and Andrée Marguerite Savoie; her maternal grandparents were Michel Boudrot and Cecile Marie LeBlanc. She had three sisters named Marguerite, Francoise and Anne. She was the second oldest of the four children. She had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Anselme, Charles, Francois, Bonaventure, Cécile, Rosalie, Rosalie and Nathalie. She died at the age of 84 on June 14th, 1818 in St Martinville, St Martin Parish, Louisiana, USA. She was buried on June 15th, 1818.¹

- Vermillion, PREJEAN, ---- [probably Marie Josephe] widow of deceased Charles DUHON - native of Acadie; died 14 June 1818 at the home of Hypolite GUEDRY at Vermillion; "d'une maladie pestilentielle" [of a deadly disease] which only permitted the body of the deceased to be brought to the church; buried 15 June 1818 at the home of Hypolite GUEDRY at Vermillion.
