    Arrived in Acadia in 1671. His farm fronted the Annapolis River; in a settlement called "Paradise", seventeen miles east of Port Royal. The home was a log cabin of squared timbers, moss & clay. They had a vegetable garden, orchards of apples, cherries, pears & plums. Jean & Andrée, then Joseph C. & his family, and Joseph II (m. Marguerite Durel) & his family all resided in this area. The Prejeans relocated to what they thought was French territory when the British invaded Port Royal. Afterwards they became prisoners. After the Treaty of Paris in 1765, eight Prejean families secretly chartered British vessels and fled to Santo Domingo, leaving in late November or early December 1765. Some Prejeans who came to Louisiana arrived in the autumn of 1765 and were given land grants at St. James on the west side of the Mississippi. Jean Prejean dit LeBreton is considered the father of all Acadian & Cajun Prejeans in North America.

          Hockey player Maurice "Rocket" Richard was the first to score 50 goals in one season, doing so in 50 games, and the first to score 500 goals in a career. He finished his career with 544 goals in the regular season, with 82 in the playoffs.

• General Notes
  • Jean Préjean dit Le Breton, born probably in Brittany, France, in c1651, came to Acadia soon after the first census was taken in 1671.  In c1683, in his early 30s, he married Andrée, daughter of Francois Savoie, at Port-Royal.  He died at Port-Royal in June 1733, in his early 80s.  He and Andrée had a dozen children, including eight sons, all born at Port-Royal, who created families of their own:
