Jean was born about 1611 in Martaize, Loudon, Vienne, France and his christening took place about 1611 in France.  Jean's father was Guillaume Blanchard and his mother was Huguette Poirier.  His maternal grandparents were Unknown Poirier and Unknown Poirier. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Guillaume, Rene, Antoine, Charles, Martin, Marie, Anne, Jeanne and Madeleine.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died about 1686 in Beaubassin, Acadie, Canada.  He was buried in Acadie, Canada.
