Martinus was born on November 10th, 1776.  Martinus' father was Joannes Carolus Benoit and his mother was Maria Francisca Tanghe.  His paternal grandparents were Judocus Benoit and Anne Marie Busschaert. He had a brother named Petrus Jacobus.  He was the younger of the two children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Joannes Baptiste, Petrus Josephus, Petrus Franciscus, Petrus Josephus and Theresia Rosalie.  He died at just 8 days old on November 18th, 1776.
