Isiah was born in 1876 in Edisto Island, South Carolina.  Isiah's father was August Deas and his mother was Lydia  Perry   (Deas).  His maternal grandfather is Perry and his maternal grandmother was Venus Perry. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named William, Edward, Benjamin, Christopher, Grace, Rachel, Phyillis, Rebecca, Mary Mary, Elsie and Elvera .
